Cutting and complaining

We build our life bit by bit. Action by action. Decision by decision.

We don’t always do the right thing or make the right choice.

Sometimes, it’s not our fault. We’ve been misled and misinformed. People betray our trust. But often, the responsibility for the decisions that cause us pain lies with us. No one else. We haven’t been led astray or had the truth hidden from us. It’s right there in front of us. We just refuse to accept it. We won’t acknowledge what the world and the people around us are trying to tell us.

We choose to remain ignorant, and as a consequence, hurt ourselves in the process. Then we out of pain and anger and frustration we rebel against these self-inflicted ills.

It makes no sense. But that’s the contradiction of the human animal. We cut ourselves and complain that it hurts.
