What if we already possess that which we’re striving for?
Think about the things we chase: position, authority, respect, meaning, worth, happiness, money, friendship, pleasure, excitement. All these things seem like some missing piece of the puzzle, a thing without which we are incomplete.
But what if we’re already complete? What if the thing we’re chasing is not a missing piece, but an extra piece? What if the jigsaw is already complete? Wouldn’t our striving and our chasing and our panting and our panicking be superfluous?
If everything we need is already within our reach, why should we continue wasting our lives on something we don’t actually require?
